Over the last several weeks we've seen Democrats and others pointing to spending on the Artemis space program, the new White House ballroom or even what's being spent on Operation Epic Fury, and saying "imagine how many people that could feed, house and provide health care for!"
Not surprisingly, none of them were saying those kinds of things when the Biden administration was shoveling billions and billions of dollars into Ukraine.
That brings me to last weekend's 60 Minutes update about the high-speed rail "dream" in California. They spelled "boondoggle" wrong:
America’s hopes for its first high-speed rail line were kindled in 2008, when California voters approved a ballot measure for a bullet train between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Nearly two decades later, that dream is yet to arrive. https://t.co/rDUsWKcxbN pic.twitter.com/0uRSAmXW63

The Democrats who are saying "just imagine how many people could be fed or housed with the money spent on the operation in Iran" are for some reason silent on this wasted/stolen taxpayer dollars update:
In a 60 Minutes report, officials said they now believe the rail line linking L.A. and San Francisco could ultimately cost about $126 billion, more than triple the original price tag approved by voters. https://t.co/1QoEZ8aNgg pic.twitter.com/LoD3MB8boD

"More than triple the original price tag approved by voters."
It won't stop there, either. Meanwhile, we're supposed to think there's nothing abnormal going on here, all while the Dems whine about Trump's new ballroom (which is privately funded) and many other things.
If you were just complaining that a $4 billion dollar trip to space "could have fed the poor" but you're silent about the $126 billion dollar train to nowhere, it's time to stop pretending your politics have anything to do with feeding poor people https://t.co/8Ri75usJVV

And at least with the space program we're getting something for the money. Newsom and California's train to nowhere isn't coming to fruition at all, but somebody's getting the money.
Isn’t it misleading to even call it high speed rail? pic.twitter.com/ivLtmgQAXx

Unreal. And Gavin Newsom's going to put that on his resume when he runs for president in 2028. With any luck most voters will laugh him off the stage (or at least cackle him off the stage if Kamala runs again).
