As you now know, "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on CBS had reportedly been losing the network about $40 million per year and the plug will soon be pulled on the franchise that started with David Letterman back in 1993. It turns out that continual TDS on a late night "comedy" show isn't a sustainable model on a national level.
However, Colbert's audience wanted him to know how much they appreciate his efforts that in actuality did nothing except help usher in a second Trump term while serving as a therapy vehicle for the Left.
That's why the Hollywood Left presented Colbert with a trophy for participating in the anti-Trump efforts and cringe "comedy" like "The Vax Scene":
Stephen Colbert wins the award best talk series at the #Emmys:

"Sometimes you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it. Ten years later, in September of 2025, my friends, I have never loved my country more desperately. God… pic.twitter.com/Hcx9wRS0gQ
The Associated Press's post about who was at the event backstage and applauding Colbert caught my eye, and not necessarily in a surprising way:

Colbert received a prolonged standing ovation for his win — and applause from the press corps backstage. https://t.co/bTQAP2e5M9 pic.twitter.com/qbQxTKOMg6
The "press corps" never tries to hide it and I thank them for making it so incredibly obvious.
Applause from the press corps instead of laughs from the public.

Colbert always comes to mind when I think of the Norm Macdonald quote "bad comedians say things to make people clap, not laugh."
And applause from the press corps backstage lol https://t.co/Z3VAVkjSdU

Ah, "journalism."
It couldn't be more clear how disconnected elite society is. How much was his show losing a year? $40 million ish?
— Tron Savage (@tronsavage) September 15, 2025
The bubble these people live in is thick and impenetrable.
When the Best Talk Show loses $40 Million a year and gets a prolonged standing ovation, what is right about this picture? How detached from reality is S A G? Honestly

That is actually sad.

You all actually gave him a pity award and he seems happy about it.
Amazing.
Almost like giving people Pulitzers for Russia gate.
Are you guys proud of these things you do?
This is a pity award if I ever saw one.

I never watch these awards shows. They are literally just the industry patting itself on the back. https://t.co/o41qWbxym8
Turns out you can't call nearly 80 million people morons who support Hitler on a nightly basis without there being a downside.
A program that never aired the opposing view and routinely called half of the country “fascists” and “Hitler.”

That isn’t an award it’s a participation trophy. https://t.co/ESkUpnlqv6
To my knowledge the only "Republican" that was ever on Colbert was Liz Cheney. Shocking that the ratings and earnings weren't enough to keep that show on the air.
