Surprise! NY Times has a report on Hunter Biden that would have gotten you suspended for 'disinformation' before the election

In late 2020, social media companies censored the New York Post’s scoop about Hunter Biden’s laptop. Twitter suspended the Post, saying the story was unsubstantiated while being “potentially harmful” and “unsafe.” In other words, the story was flagged as “disinformation.”

Why were social media outlets suspending outlets and accounts for spreading “disinformation”? Mostly, it seems, because Democrats were saying the story wasn’t true, which is more than enough for today’s “fact-checkers.” At the time Jen Psaki was among those trying to put down the story:

Tweets like that one continue to age poorly and the suspensions show that social media companies were being hacks for the Dem Party. The New York Times is now reporting the story and where things stand on the investigation of Hunter Biden:

And of course the Times wasn’t exactly in a rush to confirm the laptop detail:

Just yesterday, President Biden said, “I bet everybody knows somebody…that in an intimate relationship, what happened was the guy takes a revealing picture of his naked friend, or whatever, in a compromising position and then blackmails.” So the timing of the NYT’s story shortly after that is… interesting.

Social media companies and others in media got away with calling the story “misinformation” and “disinformation” long enough to get Biden through the election, which was obviously the goal.
