We’ve now reached the point in the Trump presidency where the media start to beg for forgiveness for reporting on select stories that were unfolding nearly three years ago. CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin shows how it’s done:
Note the mostly buried news that State Dept closed @HillaryClinton email probe with this verdict: no big deal. As a journalist, I regret my role in blowing this story out of proportion.https://t.co/Ls7zto7uDJ

New York University journalism professor Jay Rosen — who recently said that reporters asking Elizabeth Warren if middle-class taxes would rise to help pay for Medicare-for-All are destroying the media’s credibility — is among those who appreciated Toobin’s gesture:
Something you rarely see. Thank you, @JeffreyToobin https://t.co/7AipONDQqm

Many others replied that Toobin’s mea culpa comes “too late.” But isn’t it odd that the media isn’t regretting blowing something else way out of proportion:
The media is finally expressing remorse for its irresponsible coverage, saying they hyped a "big nothing" and "false controversy" for "political purposes."
No, not Russia collusion. They're talking about Hillary Clinton's emails! https://t.co/xDbOaY7wA6 pic.twitter.com/1uNeKUve9a

Many in the media are still clinging to that narrative.
Everybody reading this, smash your phones with hammers. It’s no big deal. ? ?

You’ve got to love that the election of Trump has devolved into the media apologizing for reporting the actual news but not the “fake news” they’ve helped promote.
