Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather watched yesterday’s funeral service for George H.W. Bush and had some thoughts:
Watching today's eulogies I thought about our national reckoning. We can't rely on the consciences of those who have shown none or humility from those who refuse introspection. Forces of change must swell in the population at large to shake our republic into a more just future.

Um, speaking of introspection, many spotted an ironic lack of it just in that tweet, and for multiple reasons:
"We can't rely on the consciences of those who have shown none or humility from those who refuse introspection." In other words, you're admitting that you're unreliable. This is probably a good time for you to stay quiet.

I think this is irresponsibly hypocritical at best…

Rather’s tweet is another nominee for the “you should sit this one out” Hall of Fame!
You could stand a helping of introspection there pardner https://t.co/OaKMFJrkOe

"Dan, how would you like it if I judged your entire career by those seven minutes when you walked off the set in New York?"–George H.W. Bush, 1988
Though come to think of it, in light of the events of 2004 that would be a generous judgment! https://t.co/rNa8JpsgOK
