In Detroit, many residents have had their water shut off after failing to pay the bills. The U.N. has called it a “violation of international human rights.”
Rep. John Conyers is now seeking a water bill bailout from the Obama administration to restore service to those who have been cut off and prevent others from losing service in the future:
