The progressive Democrats’ newest rock star, socialism superfan Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, spoke at Netroots Nation recently and hyped the Democratic Party’s role in one of the greatest achievements in U.S. (and world) history. The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra presented Ocasio-Cortez’s claim in this short clip:
Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: "We are the party of King, of Roosevelt, of the ones who went to the moon!"
#1. Going to the moon was not a Republican vs. Democrat thing.
#2. It happened under President Nixon, a Republican. pic.twitter.com/jmbv40ZTb5— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) August 7, 2018
Yep, that’s what she said:
“We are the party of King, of Roosevelt, of the ones who went to the moon. Who electrified this nation. Who accomplish the great successes and crown jewels of our society.”
Well, the moon claim is certainly up for debate!
..and she practiced that line in the mirror all day long pic.twitter.com/ebrfq86PaD

I think it would be positive for @Ocasio2018 to remember that she hasn't actually been elected yet. https://t.co/7J8QQsUNTb

Shh, don’t tell her, she’s on a roll!
Political analyst Jeff Greenfield tried to provide Ocasio-Cortez with at least a little cover:
Yes, it was not a partisan thing. But (nitpick?) it began under JFK in May of 1961, and just before LBJ left office, astronauts circled the moon. So did "it" happen under Nixon? (It's called Hoover Dam, because it began in '31, even though FDR got to dedicate it in '35). https://t.co/3FrtNX5UdW

As we recall, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin planted the U.S. flag on the moon, not the DNC logo.
Well to nitpick more and I think more accurately, I believe that the left wing of the Dem Party (so her equivalent) back in the day were the ones not onboard. They wanted that $ spent on social services.
