Tuesday night, CNN aired part of a 2016 recording between then candidate Donald Trump and his former lawyer, Michael Cohen:

Full audio: Presidential candidate Trump is heard on tape discussing with his attorney Michael Cohen how they would buy the rights to a Playboy model's story about an alleged affair Trump had with her years earlier, according to the audio recording "https://t.co/YmC0QuDqTx pic.twitter.com/fBbq7r1Lq9

And with that, the Resistance was reinvigorated:
This opens up a new war between Trump and Cohen. Lanny Davis, lawyer for Michael Cohen, tells @ChrisCuomo this is why this tape is being released: so “everybody” could hear “Donald Trump say ’cash.’” Giuliani said last week Trump insisted check payment

On phone w/ Lanny Davis. Cohen decided, working with Davis, to release the tape “following extensive discussions” with his lawyers about the timing and consequence of doing so, Davis says. “Quite a discussion, I can say that.”

I was at a dinner with Costa when the tape news hit. Now I'm in the @CNNTonight control room and Costa's working on the phones ? https://t.co/QbaUagnPom

Here’s the audio:

The recording is muddled in parts and is a far cry from all the “Russia collusion” accusations with which The Resistance has been trying to bring down Trump, but Resistance Dem Reps. Adam Schiff and Ted Lieu are smelling blood nonetheless:
Adam Schiff responds to the Trump-Cohen tape on @TheLastWord: “The president had knowledge that they were going to make these payments… You have evidence of knowledge, you have evidence of an intent to violate campaign laws.”
— Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) July 25, 2018
As former prosecutor, 3 things notable about Cohen tape:
1) Clear Giuliani was untruthful when he said Trump didn’t know
2) Goal was to kill story before election, so campaign motivated
3) Regardless of cash or check, whole point of phony corp. was to hide campaign expenditure
— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) July 25, 2018
This tape is more evidence that @realDonaldTrump himself was directly involved in a campaign finance law violation. And because the amount exceeded $25,000, it would be punishable as a felony. #TrumpTapes also show Rudy Giuliani lied. But that's not news. https://t.co/0vvq2tBQax
— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) July 25, 2018
But because of all the Democrat alarmism about Trump/Russia collusion, tax cuts taking the lives of millions and the repeal of Obama-era net neutrality leaving abject misery in its wake, it isn’t surprising that some don’t think that recording — whatever it ends up amounting to — is the end of the world:
We all want the pee tape and CNN/Lanny Davis comes out w/ this dud
— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) July 25, 2018
Keep in mind Lanny once wrote (what is "is").

The more I listen to #TrumpTapes the less impressed I am. You've DJT secretly recorded in person with his lawyer (which means he's at his MOST open/vulnerable) & all U get is him MAYBE referring to paying "David" in cash, which there is no evidence ever happened?! #NothingBurger
— John Ziegler (@Zigmanfreud) July 25, 2018
So #CNN just played the secret #TrumpCohenTape that was supposedly going to #impeachTrump. #ChrisCuomo says the transaction discussed wasn't illegal. And in fact, it never even occurred. CNN legal analysts agree. Sooo, another big, fat, #nothingburger. Thanks CNN. Next?

But at least CNN might at least have a sound bite for a future sequel to their original segment about Trump’s Coke addiction:
