Hines Ward finds a new job

In March when Hines Ward was forced into retirement, fans were sad to see his career come to an end. Throughout his years in the league, he had become a fan favorite for his tough-nosed play and the heart he displayed on the gridiron.

Luckily, Ward wasn’t without a job for too long. Today NBC announced they have hired the former Steelers wide receiver to be an analyst for NBC Sports.

Hines Ward this fall will join NBC Sports for various roles — including being a contributor to NBC’s Sunday night NFL studio show.

The ex-Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, who was a guest analyst (in a de facto TV tryout) on NBC’s Super Bowl pregame show last season, also will appear on the NBC Sports Network cable channel. There, he’ll be a studio analyst for college football and appear on the weekday Sports Talk news show, which airs at 6 p.m. ET. Ward follows Michelle Beadle, who’ll appear on NBCSN after leaving ESPN, in an attempt to bring some star power to a cable channel known as Versus before it was rebranded.
