As you've no doubt noticed, lynching is again a hot topic on Capitol Hill, with Rep. Ayanna Pressley gathering signatures on a letter to "address these widespread modern-day lynchings and put a stop to this racial terror." Widespread? We're talking about 11 black people who've been found hanged this year. They've all already been investigated: ten were ruled suicides, and as we reported earlier, a second black suspect has been arrested in the hanging death of Tasia Fortune. Police have also issued a warrant for a third suspect, who is also black.
We've been hearing a lot about the White House press pool recently, and one of the favored members of the White House press corps is April Ryan. Apparently, she's now the White House correspondent with The Contrarian, Jennifer Rubin's startup. The Congressional Black Congress Foundation held its 55th Annual Legislative Conference last week, and Ryan was the moderator for a panel discussion called "Stop the Lynchings."

As I also reported this week, a grand jury, after hearing testimony from 43 witnesses, determined that there was no foul play in the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, who went out boating with three white friends over Fourth of July weekend. That didn't matter to Wells' parents or to the family lawyer, race-baiter Benjamin Crump, who vowed to keep investigating.
I missed this last week, but before the grand jury returned its report, Rep. Frederica Wilson of the perpetual cowboy hat met the parents of Nolan Wells, accompanied by Crump, "and the parents of murdered young boys." Wilson said that "our young black boys are being murdered, and nobody seems to care." She's absolutely right: they're murdering each other, and nobody seems to care.
