Food and politics is a weird thing. As a politician, you're expected to visit famous local establishments and partake of their offerings. Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance was in Pennsylvania Monday and the Philadelphia Inquirer decided there was a story in Vance asking why the Philly cheesesteak place didn't have Swiss cheese.
JD Vance gets a cheesesteak at Pat’s: ‘He asked about why we don’t have Swiss cheese’ https://t.co/A91WykADli

Weird, huh?
The fake news media has now been reduced to lying about the type of cheese that @JDVance ordered.

And even though the Philly Inquirer admitted in their story they misquoted JD, they have not deleted their original tweet... https://t.co/hCS2UCmTjW pic.twitter.com/4QDnmlynO0
"He asked why we don't have Swiss cheese." That's not what he asked, and besides, it was a joke, referring to presidential candidate John Kerry's stop where he ordered a cheesesteak with Swiss cheese, when everyone in Philadelphia knows you get Cheez Whiz.
Yeah the only problem with your theory is that the Philly Inquirer completely lied about what JD Vance said and have now corrected their story and headline to reflect that.pic.twitter.com/gvzHr6KCES

The Inquirer updated its story and posted a follow-up tweet:
Clarification: Vance asked why it was insulting to put Swiss cheese on a cheesesteak.
— Philadelphia Inquirer Politics (@PoliticsINQ) August 19, 2024
This is the coverage the Trump/Vance campaign is getting during the Democratic National Convention.
Why not take down the incorrect and grossly misleading post?
— Bill Speros (@billsperos) August 19, 2024
Or was that the point in the first place?
How about deleting the misleading post with over a million views instead of a correction that a fraction of those will see?
— The Happy Curmudgeon (@devotedapostate) August 19, 2024
You need to delete the original post and fix this, because everyone is now quote-tweeting your false statement.

P.S. Did he get his sandwich with Wiz?
That doesn’t make it any better.

You know damn well it was because of @JohnKerry ‘s “blasphemous” request for Swiss cheese over traditional cheese-whiz and YOU KNOW IT. #Misinformation #Liars @CommunityNotes
— Partisan Kat (@aimezcreer) August 20, 2024
Vance did not ask this.
— ZitoSalena (@ZitoSalena) August 19, 2024
What Vance did ask was why it was insulting to put Swiss cheese on a cheesesteak (a reference to John Kerry’s flub in 2003 when he asked for Swiss cheese for his cheesesteak) https://t.co/TB1wm0Ywgk pic.twitter.com/xCa00vzjl6
Thanks for clarifying your lies once it became obvious, rag.

We Philadelphia natives know that Vance was mocking John Kerry, who infamously asked for Swiss cheese on a cheesesteak, which is …
— Tim Murtaugh (@TimMurtaugh) August 20, 2024
… well, let’s just say you don’t do that. https://t.co/igE93Zwvj2
“Correction: The clear slant of our original story was 180 degrees wrong.”

Y’all are not good at this journalism thing.
Of course you made a mistake to make him look dumb
— H man (@KuroVonhousing) August 20, 2024
Take the post down. It's intentionally misleading and unethical.
— SkatzPoker (@SkatzPoker) August 19, 2024
Either way, you are worried about what Vance puts on his sandwich when your colleagues won’t ask why the Democratic Party is about to nominate two people with Communist policies in the 🇺🇸 Priorities????

Thank goodness the Inquierer was there to catch this important moment, even if they did get it all wrong.
