Andrew Feinberg is the White House correspondent for The Independent. He's not an opinion columnist … and least I don't think he is. But it sure sounds like it from his posts. He received word from the Trump campaign that Donald Trump would be holding another press conference, this one in Bedminster, New Jersey, at the property New York Attorney General Letitia James had already started the process of seizing in lieu of that half-billion fine that Trump was ordered to pay.
I've written a couple of posts today about Kamala Harris and press conferences … as in, the ones she doesn't do. It's been 25 days now, but her team is still working on nailing down an interview, hopefully before the end of August.
But back to Feinberg. His theory is that Trump is holding a press conference after "his stunt on here with Elon didn't help blunt Kamala Harris's surging poll numbers."

I'm not sure how having a conversation with Elon Musk on X is a "stunt." For the record, Musk has invited Harris to do the same.
The media — especially CNN — were certainly fuming that Musk's "glitch-filled" rant drew numbers their network could only dream of.
I listened and I certainly didn't consider a stunt — I was genuinely interested to hear from the man who wants to be president again. And that's what I got. I wonder how many readers Feinberg draws on a typical day.
It's a nightmare to consider this election without Musk having purchased X. We're not seeing on TV the video of police marching through Minneapolis suburbs shooting people on their porches with paintballs. We wouldn't have the compilation video of Tim Walz lying about his rank 16 times. This is how ABC News' Rachel Scott — who basically ambushed Trump by asking him how he had the nerve to show up at the National Association of Black Journalists Conference —covered Walz finally addressing the stolen valor allegations in a very roundabout way:
ABC’s Rachel Scott defends Tim Walz, whining he’s “been under relentless attack” by JD Vance, someone who “didn’t see” any “active fighting” while “a Marine in Iraq”....

Scott: “Walz spent 24 years in the Minnesota National Guard, while teaching and coaching football, leaving to run for Congress months before his unit deployed to Iraq. In the house, he was the top Democrat on the veteran affairs committee, but since joining the Harris ticket, he has been under relentless attack from Donald Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who has seized on this moment.”
Walz: “We can make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is the only place where those weapons are at.”
Scott: Vance accusing Walz of lying about his service.
Vance: “He has not spent a day in a combat zone. What bothers me about Tim Walz is the stolen valor garbage. Do not pretend to be something that you're not.”
Scott: “Today, Walz pushing back at Vance, who served as a Marine in Iraq himself, but didn't see active fighting.”
Walz: “And I firmly believe you should never denigrate another person's service record. Anyone brave enough to put on that uniform for our great country, including my opponent, I just have a few simple words: thank you for your service and sacrifice.”
So Scott's a "real" journalist and not some stunt performer … did she look into J.D. Vance's accusations, or did she just repeat Walz's non-answer?
So, lies, misrepresentations, cowardice, and abdication of duty doesn't matter as long as you put on the uniform.

That's not how it works.
It's the lying. Walz lied. Report on that.
No one cares that he didn't see any combat. Everyone but you throne sniffers does care that he lied about seeing combat.

Fortunately the number of people who care what you say is also at a minimum and isn't ever going back up.
By the way, that wasn't a press conference either — it was a campaign rally in front of AFSCME.
I'm still looking for the surge in Harris' poll numbers after that stunt Trump pulled with Musk. That's why Trump is going to … hold another press conference, like a real-life candidate.
Journalists are garbage.
