It was 2022 when I learned that there are huge pickups that are taller than an average man. Tyler Newcomb (he/him), an advocate of safe streets, brought the problem to my attention.
I’m the average male height the at 5’9”

I knew that progressives considered pickup trucks to be the favored vehicle of white supremacists, but I didn't know they were killing machines.
Just this January, Dan Riffle had a child pose in front of one of these killer trucks to demonstrate the danger:
Vehicles should be regulated by grill height, not just weight. Matters both for visibility and severity of potential impact. No reason for this to be a street legal passenger vehicle in a city. pic.twitter.com/LiwnRTHwfC

In December, NBC News consulted with experts who said that Tesla's new Cybertruck could be lethal to pedestrians. Any car could be lethal to pedestrians, but they had to get in a dig at Elon Musk.
Now we have yet another young child posing in front of one of these "murder machines."

Really? That toddler looks pretty harmless to me, but I guess you just never know.

Take personal responsibility for keeping your kid out of roads in general and out of vehicle blind spots in all locations.
Maybe don’t let your kid stand in front of one

Umm my female-to-male transgender 17 year old needs a truck like this as part of their gender affirming care. Banning trucks like this will do so much harm… Why do you hate transgender people?

Don't play in the road

I'm getting "blame the guns" vibes from this guy 😂
— Forever Ellone (@ForeverEllone) March 26, 2024
Exactly. He should have strapped the kid with an AR-15 and called for those to be banned too.
"Get these murder machines off our streets!" took off.

You realize that government regulations are what have driven manufacturers to make trucks bigger, right?
— Zeb Holiday (@madhatter3598) March 26, 2024
My liberal friend from Connecticut is 'uncomfortable' with big pickup trucks. They scare him.
— Permian (@PermianCroaton) March 26, 2024
New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay was uncomfortable seeing so many pickup trucks on Long Island. That and American flags.
Cry harder, princess.
— ŦhunderChicken 🌵🏴☠️ (@ThunderChicken) March 25, 2024
It wouldn't matter if the truck were smaller … progressives just hate pickup trucks and the people who drive them. Ideally, they'd have all of us living in "15-minute cities" where you could walk wherever you needed to go in 15 minutes.
Is there data somewhere that supports the idea that large trucks hit children at a higher rate? I keep seeing this sentiment but I have yet to see any data supporting the claim. Asking honestly, without animosity.
— The Stagfather (@Stagfather) March 26, 2024
That's my question. Is there some epidemic of children being hit by pickup trucks? If there is I haven't heard about it.
