NBC News: Gigi Sohn withdraws from FCC slot amid most 'outright homophobic campaign' in history

All of the networks are bad, but NBC News has been going for the gold this month, outing Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee as a drag queen and implying Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had anything to do with that bill proposing that political bloggers be registered.

Now NBC News reporter Kevin Collier is fuming about FCC commissioner nominee Gigi Sohn withdrawing from consideration. Sohn had called Fox News “state-sponsored propaganda” and said she’d be fair, even after tweeting calls to ban conservative media. Sen. Ted Cruz blasted her last month:

But it was outright homophobia that drove her to withdraw her name from consideration.

Collier wrote the piece, we read it top to bottom and saw absolutely no evidence of an “outright homophobic campaign”:

Gigi Sohn, a consumer advocate who faced an unprecedented wave of personal attacks, has withdrawn her candidacy to join the Federal Communications Commission.

Sohn would have been both the first openly gay FCC commissioner and the rare commissioner who spent her career working in the nonprofit and advocacy realm, rather than the telecommunications industry that the FCC regulates.

Sohn announced her withdrawal Tuesday. The Washington Post first reported her withdrawal.

In a statement, Sohn said: “The unrelenting, dishonest and cruel attacks on my character and my career as an advocate for the public interest have taken an enormous toll on me and my family.”

Does Collier really think being openly gay is keeping anyone out of the Biden administration?
