This editor got gas Thursday morning at $3.70 a gallon. It’s been higher, but it still costs more than $50 to fill the tank, which would have been absurd to think a couple of years ago. That was before President Joe Biden took office, killed off the Keystone Pipeline, and froze oil and gas leases on federal land.
Of course, Biden had an explanation for the price hike, or at least one landed in his lap. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine led us to put sanctions on Russian oil exports, and thus the price of gas was attributed to the “Putin price hike.” When that excuse didn’t stick, Biden blamed high gas prices on price gouging from gas stations and demanded that they stop it. Then he started draining the strategic petroleum reserves.
This clip from the House floor was posted by Aaron Rupar, so you know he thought Rep. Ted Lieu knocked it out of the park. The debate, Lieu said, comes down to the GOP being upset that Biden has reduced gas prices.
Rep. Lieu: "I can summarize this debate of the last two days into one sentence: Joe Biden lowered your gas prices and Republicans are upset about it." pic.twitter.com/4xX5UUS20u

We were assured several times over the last two years that the president doesn’t control gas prices.
President Biden lowered your gas prices, and Republicans are mad about it.
Went to the floor to explain why we should reject GOP efforts to limit @POTUS’s power to use the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to lower your gas prices.

I laughed out loud here. The price of gas on the day Joe Biden took office was $2.39/gallon — and it has only gone up since.
It is both pathetic and exceptionally embarrassing to act as if you done good after you started the fire. https://t.co/W8gJKcCkCq

From yesterday. These people think we are stupid. At the end of the Trump administration this number was $74 and yes that’s $125 for the same amount of fuel. https://t.co/7NNnaSKsN7 pic.twitter.com/izFrdsGN5d

The national average cost of gas in the U.S. the day Joe Biden took office was $2.53/gallon.
The national average today is $3.50/gallon.
An increase of 97 cents is not "lowering."

Really?
Because prices here in Ft. Lauderdale are up .80 for 93 from where they were artificially deflated before Election Day. https://t.co/CVNdz0ESN7

Politics has always been about shading the truth. But Biden and @TheDemocrats have taken it to an entirely different level. https://t.co/SnjSVlrmGt

The “brave” Lieu is getting a lot of love from Rupar’s followers for telling it just like it is. If Biden is capable of lowering gas prices, could he please lower them to where they were before he was inaugurated? That would really upset those Republicans.
