As Twitchy reported last week, New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger received a letter signed by 1,000 employees threatening a walkout on December 8 if there was no agreed-upon contract. There isn’t, and New York Times Guild members are walking out as promised Thursday. They also ask that you join them on the digital picket line and not read anything on the Times website.
Barring a breakthrough, @nytimes staff will walk out from midnight to 11:59pm Thursday, Dec. 8.
We’re asking readers to stand with us on the digital picket line and not visit any NYT platforms tomorrow. Read local news. Make something from a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak. https://t.co/KiUlHAtkuh

What can we say? We’re totally on board with that.

Better yet, they should strike forever.

It will be absolutely no problem for me to comply with your request. https://t.co/DEfHMKhFmR

I want NYT employees to get everything that they deserve. Everything.
— Tom in FL (@thomasa56) December 7, 2022
I'll do even more. I'll not spend a dime on the NYT ever again.* (* Not that I've ever spent a penny there up to today)
— Tom in FL (@thomasa56) December 7, 2022
No problem. The paper has become unreadable.

I'll take it one further and cancel my subscriptions. That'll teach em.
— Chicago Hockey Guy (@lncnparkcoyote) December 7, 2022
I’m gonna take that advice. Not only tomorrow, but every day here forward.
I’m sure you’ll get that raise and job security if enough people do what I’m doing and stay away forever.

It’s kind of funny that the best card the guild has to play is asking you not to play Wordle.
Nothing of value will be lost

And no one will notice.

You all can stay away a bit longer if you like.

Keep walking.

Have you considered learning to code?
— Dan (@Emmonspired) December 7, 2022
Asking people not to visit the Times online Thursday is something conservatives can get on board with. Seriously, all anyone cares about is Wordle, not the news or opinion.
