Update:
A reader informs us that the screenshot of “definition” being redefined is fake and Wikipedia’s log doesn’t show any edits to it. Our apologies — BT
Original post:
When we’d heard that Wikipedia had changed its definition of “recession” to more closely align with the Biden White House’s spin that we aren’t in one, we didn’t think much about it … after all, Wikipedia is user-edited — it’s not like when Merriam-Webster changes a definition, as it did this month with “female,” “girl,” and “boy.”
But then we heard that after a flurry of edits to the page, Wikipedia administrators locked it down, prohibiting further edits:
Wikipedia has changed the definition of recession.
Wayback's last capture was July 11, 2022.
Based on Wiki's changelog, the line: "There is no global consensus on the definition of a recession" was added on July 27.
The page is now locked. pic.twitter.com/6tx1vPHEPM

Wikipedia changed and locked the definition of recession to cover for Biden's failures… but let's face it, if you're trusted Wikipedia for your definition of anything at all, you're screwed to begin with.

But wait, there’s more. Apparently, all of that arguing about the definition of recession caused Wikipedia’s editors to question the definition of “definition” itself. A definition is now a “fluid statement.”
🚨 After Wikipedia changed the definition of “recession” and locked the page for editing, they also changed the definition of “definition” and locked it for editing as well 🤡 pic.twitter.com/jqY55g1pEO

There’s a reason @Wikipedia isn’t considered a legitimate source even for kids working on a book report secondary school.
Because it’s not a legitimate source of information. It is, however, a great indicator for relativism and lack of principle in society. https://t.co/rH6mwFGbew

“Meanings evolve to meet the needs of societal change.” So what’s the point of Wikipedia posting definitions at all? Some people are saying that the last time “definition” was changed was back in February, not July … either way, though, definitions are just fluid statements.

I don't use Wikipedia for anything anymore, except for looking up the altitudes of cities that I might visit.
Although likely that is lies now too.
