Original post:

When we’d heard that Wikipedia had changed its definition of “recession” to more closely align with the Biden White House’s spin that we aren’t in one, we didn’t think much about it … after all, Wikipedia is user-edited — it’s not like when Merriam-Webster changes a definition, as it did this month with “female,” “girl,” and “boy.”

But then we heard that after a flurry of edits to the page, Wikipedia administrators locked it down, prohibiting further edits:

But wait, there’s more. Apparently, all of that arguing about the definition of recession caused Wikipedia’s editors to question the definition of “definition” itself. A definition is now a “fluid statement.”

“Meanings evolve to meet the needs of societal change.” So what’s the point of Wikipedia posting definitions at all? Some people are saying that the last time “definition” was changed was back in February, not July … either way, though, definitions are just fluid statements.

Stunning and brave.
