We knew this was coming, we just didn’t know when. Last month, nine staffers of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” were arrested and charged with illegal entry to House office buildings after hours. As the story goes, they were invited in by House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff, but then returned after hours without an escort so they could film a Triumph the Insult Comic bit outside the offices of Rep. Laurent Boebert and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. has declined to prosecute the Colbert crew, explaining that the office would be required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were guilty of unlawful entry because their escort left them unattended. So if you want to enter government buildings after hours to shoot a comedy bit for your liberal late-night show, feel free.

I trust the same decline to prosecute will be applied to the Jan 6 folks who are only facing trespassing charges.

But they will delight and celebrate that a 79-year-old cancer patient going to federal prison for trespassing.

Do you respect the decision to lock up a 69yo grandmother with cancer because she walked into the Capitol for 5 minutes, @CapitolPolice? And likely was invited in?
Justice isn’t blind.

Cool. This means we can enter the U.S. Capitol building whenever we want and not be charged.

Influential leftists are above the law. That’s what the judge said. Republicans go to prison, lefties walk.

So then this behavior is acceptable going forward?

Why would the government prosecute one of its chief propaganda outlets?

Trespassing is not that big a deal they said…

They’re doing their part to drive this to a real confrontation. Bad times coming.

Where the heck did this "we don't think it probable" BS come from? Seems like a convenient excuse to let people you don't wish to prosecute escape justice.

The Capitol Police, who made the arrest, are cool with the decision to drop all charges.
