As Twitchy reported, President Biden is scheduled to give remarks on the end of the war in Afghanistan (and the end of the evacuation effort) Tuesday afternoon. In his stead Monday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed the press (after a two-hour delay), said the number of Americans left in Afghanistan is likely closer to 100, and then left without taking questions.
Sec. of State Antony Blinken said the State Department believes there is "still a small number of Americans — under 200, and likely closer to 100 — who remain in Afghanistan and want to leave.” https://t.co/lck8XonsUi pic.twitter.com/0zfT996sfQ

Blinken just said only "a small number of Americans" remain in Afghanistan as hundreds of Americans still remain trapped under Taliban rule. pic.twitter.com/JBlsMGkbJl

Unforgivable

Secretary of State Blinken just admitted Biden withdrew from Afghanistan before they even knew how many Americans they were leaving behind.

Blinken on Afghanistan: “The military mission is over. A new diplomatic mission has begun.” Yeah, with zero diplomats on the ground and many of the local Afghans who helped us in hiding, fearing for their lives, because we abandoned them.

It’s time for the “diplomatic sequel.”
The totally trustworthy Taliban says they will let people leave Afghanistan, per Sec. Blinken. I guess all those reports of them going door-to-door are "fake news" or something.
It's amazing how many times the Biden admin has gone from saying they trust to distrust the Taliban.

2 weeks ago it would have been surprising to see this speech from Secretary Blinken instead of President Biden.
But the White House no longer seems concerned about the optics of keeping the President hidden in a Presidency-defining crisis.

So Biden just left all those Americans behind, to die, neglecting what Antony Blinken called a “sacred duty.” Now they want props for it, and they’ll get it from the usual herd of sycophants like Max Boot and Jennifer Rubin. People are going to die and no one will answer for it.

Jennifer Rubin today is celebrating all of those who won’t die in Afghanistan — that suicide bomber attack was four days ago, five days ago.
Blinken: “Helping Americans and foreign partners "was more than just a high stakes assignment for our team. It was a sacred duty."
You put Afghan refugees ahead of Americans. The Biden admin is morally bankrupt.

Blinken quotes the Taliban. This is a dark day.

And just like Biden, he’s outta there.
Blinken takes zero questions following his two-hour-late remarks.

Wow no questions for Blinken.
The plane back to the Hamptons must be waiting.

Blinken turns his back on reporters and refuses to answer questions about abandoning American citizens. pic.twitter.com/QsJGGEqmrw

How perfect. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, after confirming hundreds of Americans have been left behind in Afghanistan, turns and walks away. No questions.

You gotta answer reporter questions after a speech and a moment like this. https://t.co/yxyLeLMW67
— Jim Sciutto (@jimsciutto) August 30, 2021
Showing his back to the camera was the most appropriate way to end that speech.
— RC (@Pedlar7) August 30, 2021
he was "not supposed to take any questions"…

The walk away administration.
— VirginiaRoyal (@VirginiaRoyal8) August 30, 2021
They keep turning their back on everybody. Americans, Afghani women, and all our Allies.

Coward.

Heads need to roll.

To be fair he read that like there was a gun pointed to his back. There was zero emotion in that news conference. It appeared he couldn't get out of there any faster.
This is honestly so strange.— Dylan Baker (@DilPickle1088) August 30, 2021
Maybe if someone called this administration out on their refusal to answer questions, things will change… or not…

Learned from his boss!! #disgusting

I wish they would all walk away from their positions in the military and politics, the way they walk away from questions.

Apparently that's the new M.O.

Videotaped hostage video….
— madsenc (@madsenc) August 30, 2021
Even Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin said it looked like a hostage video — which we should probably get used to seeing.
After she was "shocked that the President released a paper statement on the end of the Afghan war" and waiting a day to speak, @JenGriffinFNC torched Secretary Blinken's speech in which he "looked slightly off-camera" was "like a hostage video" that betrayed the "moment in time" pic.twitter.com/VNYoExNtOU

His teleprompter said LEAVE NOW at the end, just like Joe’s.
