Report: Snopes contacted the White House after president retweeted a Babylon Bee parody

We’ve never heard of Disrn, but the site is reporting Wednesday night that fact-checking site Snopes contacted the White House after President Trump retweeted a story from the satirical Babylon Bee.

Here’s the original tweet that Trump retweeted, posted by Jenna Ellis, senior legal advisor to the Trump 2020 campaign:

Disrn says it obtained an email from Snopes’ Dan Evon to the White House which read:

President Trump recently retweeted a post from @JennaEllisEsq containing a fake quote from an entertainment article.

Was President Trump aware that this quote was fake when he sent it? If so, why wasn’t it accompanied by a message labeling the quote as fiction?

Because the vast majority of people recognize satire when they see it?
