When Republicans said they were coming for your gas appliances, the media just laughed and laughed. They thought it was another hilarious right-wing conspiracy theory.
Well, you can't remodel your home in San Francisco anymore and keep your gas appliances.
San Francisco now makes you remove gas appliances if you do a major remodel pic.twitter.com/q4aX532IGX

San Franciscans making major renovations to their homes are now subject to a far-reaching new environmental rule.
Most property owners seeking permits for gut-level renovations that also replace major mechanical systems, such as water heaters and furnaces, are now required to ditch natural gas and install fully electric systems. That means space heating and cooling, water heating, cooking and clothes drying systems must all be entirely powered by electricity.
City leaders say the rule, which went into effect starting in July and extends San Francisco’s existing ban on natural gas in new construction, will cut a major source of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions, often without increasing renovation costs — and sometimes lowering them, according to city estimates.
Seems like it wasn't a right-wing conspiracy after all.

To their credit, Leftists do give tons of money to homeless people to make up for it. Residents can't afford to rebuild, but at least you can live in a tent on the sidewalk legally.
Every renovation in SF just became $10k more expensive. Brutal. https://t.co/tOL0T1lWeM

Board of Supervisors once again just rolling stuff out with no consideration of costs and benefits.

Feels like we need an independent auditor of every law to assess if it passes a cost/benefit test, and recommend veto if it doesn't. https://t.co/HjOGc8WnpQ
