You know that Rep. Elise Stefanik struck a nerve Friday while questioning former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch; as Twitchy reported, a doctored photo of her giving the finger while Yovanovitch was applauded began making the rounds and was retweeted by George Conway, who also called her “lying trash” and helped get the hashtag #TrashyStefanik trending.
CNN contributor Amanda Carpenter had a pretty hot take on that doctored photo; yes it was fake, but it was also sort of believable.
Why is the fake photo of Stefanik damaging? Bc it's sort of believable in light of her somewhat obnoxious performance yesterday that drew massive backlash and generated fundraising for her opponent. I mean, I did a double take. It must be labeled as photoshopped or taken down.

"believable"
— Diet Publicola (@DietPublicola) November 16, 2019
We knew it was an obvious fake the second we saw it in our timeline. But it’s “sort of believable” if you’re gullible, we guess.
Sorry, it's not remotely believable.
I don't care if you don't like what she did this week. That's fine.
But if you buy that photo, you've lost perspective. https://t.co/enKGxhqbST

Fake but accurate? This is @CNN

I was wondering why a former Ted Cruz staffer would say something like this, then I saw the first 3 letters in her bio.
Those cable news contributor checks are a hell of a drug. https://t.co/WnKINEkXLx

Is fake but accurate really the take you want to go with here?
— Burn It All Down (@TimHaas70) November 16, 2019
Can’t you just denounce the photo without having to take a shot at her?
— Ryan Hooper (@ryhooper) November 16, 2019
Only this clown could manage to “criticize” the attack on Stefanik by also attacking Stefanik.
She’s not an ally. https://t.co/C5RNOnoBRg

You mean it played into a narrative Democrats and the media want to use to destroy another strong Republican woman? If so, you are correct. https://t.co/P2i9qUKkMO

Obnoxious performance? Calling out the hypocrisy of Schiff and this entire sham is not obnoxious. It’s called her duty. The only thing obnoxious is your tweet.
— Jim Stover (@theagileviking) November 16, 2019
Well, you would know obnoxious performances.
— Adso of Melk (@PalimpsestMan) November 16, 2019
Yeah, a man is forceful. A woman is obnoxious. Why don’t you just call her a bitch and be done with it? https://t.co/h4sBPcMcB7
— (((Charlie Martin))) (@chasrmartin) November 16, 2019
Ah yes, somehow it's partially her fault…
— Zach Jones (@TheZMaster23) November 16, 2019
I guess she was just asking for it, right? You useless hack.
— Robert Laurent (@RobLaurent) November 16, 2019
I thought she did a great job
— madsenc (@madsenc) November 16, 2019
It is not believable to me and I appreciated her behavior of standing up to the sham that the Dems are pushing through. @EliseStefanik was pushing back against the same kinds of people who doctored that photo. She has my full support.
— Ella Canon ?? (@sgtmolly06) November 16, 2019
I wish it was real. I’d like her even more.
— Mike Smith (@nyyb4life) November 16, 2019
You are despicable defending this. You’ve turned into exactly what you oppose. Supposedly.
— Fredo Ocasio Stelter (@Hillarysserver) November 16, 2019
It would be rude to call your tweet a disingenuous insult masquerading as a principled stand. It would be unkind to call you a second-rate hack who's cashing in on some vestigial association with a movement she never understood. People must not write so bluntly about others.

People ask GOP to fight back and when we find a congress WOMAN with the fortitude to do so, its called obnoxious.
This is why people like you ruin the @GOP.
You still want passive wimpy rino behavior against aggressive dems that fails. https://t.co/4ROcQcwKaH— Mrs_Pinky Thoughts ??? (@mrs_pinky85) November 16, 2019

— CHICO (@chicostien) November 16, 2019
This is a terrible hot take.
Use the same rationale for the Russian ads in 2016…they were only damaging because they were believable… Right? https://t.co/vFN43lCMnX
