Today's fake outrage: Misogynists are angry a woman stars in the next 'Terminator' movie

As Twitchy recently reported, the Washington Post published a piece blaming “white nostalgia” for the supposed outrage around the casting of a black actor to play Ariel in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”

We say “supposed,” because BuzzFeed’s Brandon Wall took a closer look at the tweet cited as proof of white people being upset; the account’s avatar was stolen from an Instagram model, and even the photo of the DVD box was ripped from another source. In short, it couldn’t have been any faker.

Just like we were told we had to see the all-female “Ghostbusters” to prove we weren’t sexist, now we’re getting the story that “misogynists” are upset that a woman has been cast in the lead in the next “Terminator” film.

Here’s director Tim Miller’s message for the misogynists who are unhappy — of whom not one single example is given, not one tweet cited:

“If you’re at all enlightened, she’ll play like gangbusters,” said the director. “If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the f**k out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine. We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early s**t that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a f**k.”

No, we can’t see the responses online. Show us one.

Just so you know, Hollywood, this is why we all rolled our eyes when you said “Captain Marvel” was special because it starred a woman as a superhero (so did “Wonder Woman,” duh), and that’s why there was even a GoFundMe to send little girls to see it to inspire them. It wasn’t marketing hype at all.
