We’re not sure how we feel about stopping to lecture women about fetal alcohol syndrome when they aren’t actually drinking alcohol but just craving it, but hey, we weren’t there; this person was:
Sitting next to some pregnant ladies. They say they crave alcohol. The one says Black Label in particular.
So I step in and tell them about fetal alcohol syndrome.
And they say disability is a gift ?

One lady says with her first pregnancy she drank from conception to delivery and the baby was fine
In her second pregnancy she never drank but baby was disabledTherefore Disability is a gift

OK, that’s weird, but it gets even weirder. Get ready for more lecturing, this time from a blue-check who says she’s taught at more than 100 universities.
Please don't police the bodies of pregnant people.
To protect children against alcohol harm, take on the industry. Call for a ban on alcohol advertising. Campaign for a health tax on alcohol manufacture and distribution. Demand public parks and libraries next to bars. https://t.co/1KfgILs2tZ— Shailja Patel (@shailjapatel) May 14, 2019
Demand libraries next to bars? OK. Or better yet, serve drinks at the library.
Pregnant people are whole human beings, not baby incubators. Patriarchy demands that they be pure gestational vessels despite toxic environments and structural oppression, while absolving fathers of responsibility. If you want healthy babies, work for healthy societies.

This is definitely someone who’s taught at a few universities; bonus points for using the term “pregnant person” and not “pregnant woman” so as not to exclude trans men.

If it bothers you to see a pregnant person drinking alcohol, does it bother you equally when your bros who are fathers are out drinking with you instead of being with their kids?
— Shailja Patel (@shailjapatel) May 14, 2019
No.
Did you teach in 100+ universities because you kept getting fired for stupidity? Just wondering.

Tired: Moderate your drinking, smoking habits, preferably to zero while pregnant to reduce health risk to both yourself & your unborn child

If it doesn't bother you to see a pregnant woman drink, you're a jackass.

As if they’re the same thing. As if fetal alcohol syndrome isn’t a real thing with very real consequences for the unborn baby. https://t.co/LC7MJvT78R

So, your solutions are:
– Don't advertise alcohol; women are too dumb to know it exists
– Tax alcohol (which we're already doing)
– Build places women like to go near bars, which will make them aware of the alcohol they were too dumb to know exists https://t.co/Slr4SlmDJr pic.twitter.com/HS66poE46N

Two things that cancel each other out, and something that already exists. Brilliant.

Is this really what feminism has become? https://t.co/6mjOSqQ7CK
— Contempathy (@OfficialSethu) May 14, 2019
This is what happens when liberal movements form echo chambers and shut down any criticism as bigotry or "anti" their movement. In order for any movement to be healthy you have to allow people to call out the bullshit and the current form of feminism is exactly that bullshit. https://t.co/7XSc8STxmS
