As Twitchy reported, a young woman was caught on video ambushing Chelsea Clinton at a memorial service for the victims of the Christchurch massacre that killed 49 people, telling her “49 people died because of the rhetoric you put out there” — that rhetoric being a condemnation of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitic language.
Never mind that the gunman had been planning the attack long before Omar made the news in the United States, let alone New Zealand.
Now BuzzFeed has decided to reward the two students who accosted Clinton at a memorial service, Rose Asaf and Leen Dweik, the title of “contributor” and given them space to explain their side of the story.
Opinion: Why We Confronted Chelsea Clinton https://t.co/EeZRDKtAwb

Yeah, no thanks.
Hard pass on this insanity. Good try.

they were wrong and one has racist and bigoted statements on her social media so
STOP GIVING THEM MORE ATTENTION— sam (@samiamsamh) March 17, 2019
Such a bad take.

Hateful , mixing political agenda with a public figure @ChelseaClinton , leave your spiteful agenda somewhere else
— Peter Moulder (@pvm33) March 16, 2019
Y’all were wrong. Period.

Publishing this piece is a disgrace. Especially how they conveniently forget to address why they published the Venmo accounts and asked for money.

BuzzFeed, I can't believe you gave these bigots (Rose and Leen) a platform. I spit on their so-called explanation
— Pam Collier (@PamCollier2) March 16, 2019
We know why, you wanted to make a solemn occasion about yourselves.
— Latinarants (@latinarants) March 16, 2019
Translation, we're shocked this backfired and people think we were wrong because we have 0 self awareness.
— Bill Hanik (@billhanik) March 17, 2019
Call me old fashioned, but confronting her at a vigil, while wearing a Bernie Sanders t-shirt, seems a little questionable.

Next, write "Why we posted our Venmo and claimed it was for a joke".
— Kat (@mostly_sleepy) March 17, 2019
What you did was highly inappropriate and don't help your cause at all.
— Ashley Steen (@aey1004) March 16, 2019
Nope. Do better, Buzzfeed.
— Frances Folsom Cleveland (@magicskyway) March 16, 2019
Opinion: you did it because you hoped for a shit-ton of publicity, which sadly you're getting.
— Michael Marshall Smith (@ememess) March 17, 2019
NOPE.
— Katrina Sloan (@KatrinaLSloan) March 17, 2019
And they still don't acknowledge that @ChelseaClinton spoke to @IlhanMN If they had taken a moment to research vs react they would have realized their mistake. Now people in mourning have to deal with this mess. The focus should be supporting New Zealand and the muslim community
— Madeline Donohue (@MaddyDono) March 16, 2019
Your ire is misdirected and this confrontation did harm to your cause.

I’m really done with buzzfeed at this point

Surprised that the link isn't to their Venmo accounts.

So Clinton and Congresswoman Omar have met and moved past this. Chelsea Clinton founded the NYU Interfaith Council that hosted the vigil so of course she was invited. This whole piece is just damage control and not very well done, at that. pic.twitter.com/v7L6pciCYn

I just wasted my time reading this article. I call B.S. They owe Chelsea an apology, certainly not the other way around, which this article still insisted upon. They are only hurting their own cause. Realistic people know that Chelsea is not the enemy. Focus on those who are.

You did it because you were in a safe little bubble where you knew you would be cheered by your fellow radicals. What you were ultimately faced with, was a big portion of the population who find you both loathesome. Learn how to have polite debate.

— Mike (@mhinojosa8) March 17, 2019
guess their PR stunt worked. This is pathetic, @BuzzFeed. Hey, ask them for receipts that they donated to charity the venmo money like they said they would after there was push back on them grifting for cash over the planned stunt at a vigil.
