Now those child abuse suspects from New Mexico compound are just another "Muslim family"

As Twitchy noted, the Associated Press seemed awfully careful about what it released on that story of a raid on a compound in New Mexico in which a man whose father was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing was alleged to be training children to be school shooters. The whole Muslim extremist component seemed to have been overlooked:

CNN also appeared to have erased from its coverage the sheriff’s statement that the individuals were “extremists of the Muslim belief.”

It didn’t take long for the public to find out, and not surprisingly, people were shocked to hear Monday night that the suspects were going to be released on signature bond, meaning they didn’t even have to post cash bail to be released.

Well, it looks like we’ve finally found a headline that mentions the religion of the suspects, in a story about “social media, email and telephone threats made against Taos District Court Judge Sarah Backus.”

For the record, we’re staunchly opposed to threats, but it does seem funny only now to refer to the suspects as a Muslim family. Just another Muslim family, you know.

Never fear. Trevor Hughes of USA Today reports that “three women and a man could be released and tracked with GPS ankle monitors pending their trial on child-abuse charges in connection with the treatment of their 11 kids kept on the site.”

However, the man who “snatched his toddler son from his former wife but failed to give him medical care, causing him to die sometime early last year” during a religious ritual will remain in jail on a kidnapping warrant.

Newsbusters noted last Wednesday that ABC News gave the raid on the compound a whopping 15 seconds of airtime.
