This next tweet is out of context but it went through our feed and it summed up our feelings rather nicely:
I swear to god if these people make me defend Alex Jones I will never forgive them
— Aelfred The Great (@aelfred_D) August 7, 2018
Yes, we’re well aware of the more awful things that Alex Jones has said, especially about Sandy Hook, but a red light went off when we saw CNN’s Oliver Darcy saying that the media should get more credit than it was getting for compelling tech platforms including Facebook, Apple, Google, Spotify, YouTube, YouPorn (really), and even Pinterest to ban Alex Jones and InfoWars — and it looks like an email from Mashable was all it took to get Pinterest to fall in line.
You guys, I’m worried Alex Jones lost his Friendster page too. https://t.co/nWgMuE9aML

So what’s CNN’s next move? The network is keeping an eye on Apple’s and Google’s stores, which are still carrying the InfoWars app.
Apple and Google are still selling the InfoWars app, which contains some of the same type of content that both tech giants have pulled from elsewhere on their platforms https://t.co/GjaCGPjcu5 pic.twitter.com/oDwVU9vneP

No kidding, the app contains the same sort of content as the other platforms. Except you literally have to head to an online storefront, do a search, and knowingly download it to your mobile device. So what role, exactly, does CNN think it’s playing in this “story”?
Recommended
Both stores categorize InfoWars as “news.” On the Apple App Store, InfoWars’ app has gone as high as #23 among free news apps, ahead of offerings from legitimate news outlets like the Associated Press, CBS News, USA Today, NPR, Bloomberg, MSNBC, Washington Post, NBC News, Politico and the Financial Times.
…
A Google spokesperson told CNN, “While we don’t comment on specific apps, we can confirm that our content policies are designed to provide a great experience for users and developers. If an app violates our policies, we take action.”
That’s a nice store you’ve got there, Google … be a shame if anything happened to it.
They still have the CNN app too.

We see what you did there.
CNN, glorified snitch https://t.co/LR7Ld0saTV

Not an Alex Jones fan but its clear what you're pushing. How about if you stop trying to make the news & just report it?

63 shot, 10 dead last wknd in Chicago but #FakeNews is all over InfoWars instead.
— Jor El (@JorElishere) August 6, 2018
Honestly, did nothing else happen over the weekend? We mean, besides the media freaking out because the Newseum gift shop was betraying its First Amendment mission by selling MAGA hats and “Fake News” T-shirts?
I find Alex Jones to be a disgrace, but pulling his material seems dangerous. Just ignore the guy, change the channel, or download someone else.

Wow. CNN is pushing censorship and reveling in the destruction of free speech. Things are going to get a lot worse for CNN.
— noseeum (@42889na) August 7, 2018
The tech giants coordinated to make a martyr out of AJ. #StreisandEffect will ensure his online censorship is more widely talked about than if he were left alone and joked about for being a kook.

How about fight with better ideas not celebrating censorship ???????@CNN

Can’t let 2016 ever happen again. Ban and burn everything to the ground!

I know Jones is a conspiracy dude, but your mission to censor your detractors is appalling. He has a right to be on these platforms just like anyone else.
I don't see CNN trying to get openly violent Hamas or Antifa deplatformed. #CNNisISIS #CNNisFakeNews— blank (@MissSarahBritt) August 7, 2018

Somebody cares. Look out, Apple and Google, you’ve been reported to leftist boycott collective Sleeping Giants:
Thanks for the info! @slpng_giants
— Celia (@starksalt) August 6, 2018
It’s OK, CNN … none of your shows have been targeted for coordinated boycotts yet.
