FAKE NEWS: Nikki Haley compels Washington Post reporter to take down tweets, add correction

We’d post the tweets that Washington Post reporter Jeff Stein had posted about U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, but we can’t because they’ve been taken down after Haley called him out.

Here’s the story Haley was referring to, which now includes a correction at the bottom:

Correction: An earlier version of this story misattributed a statement to Nikki Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, that no more than 250,000 Americans are in “extreme poverty.” The statement was made by the Permanent Mission of the United States to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva.

Alongside the corrected bit is this bit of news: “Haley last month denounced a United Nations report saying 18.5 million Americans suffer extreme impoverishment.” And that’s just one more reason we’re fortunate to have Haley as our U.N. ambassador.

Stein did follow through and delete the tweets as well:

But as so many have pointed out: isn’t it strange that when a reporter gets something wrong, it’s always something intended to make the Trump administration look bad, uninformed, or uncaring? Why is it that mistakes in reporting never go the other direction?

Also, how many people who read and retweeted the original story tweeted again after the correction was added?

Then they could really write some fake news.
