'Get my cat ears going here': Travis County judge dons Women's March 'pussy hat' in courtroom

A photo that appeared on Reddit last week of Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt wearing a pink “pussy hat” in the courtroom made the rounds on Twitter Monday. However, KVUE in Austin, Texas contacted multiple county departments, and all said Eckhardt is in the clear. KVUE reports that although Eckhardt’s title is judge, she does not hear cases or act as an attorney; rather, she was elected to oversee the commissioners court much as a mayor would oversee a city council.

Eckhardt slipped on the cap January 24 as the commissioners court was preparing to approve a proclamation “supporting reproductive choice in healthcare.” Here’s KVUE’s coverage:

Eckhardt might have committed a crime against fashion, but that’s about it.
