Grubhub CEO says his letter was misconstrued, clarifies that none of his employees is deplorable

As Twitchy reported, food delivery service Grubhub might have a legal problem as well as a PR problem on its plate, after CEO Matt Maloney issued a post-election memo instructing employees who shared Donald Trump’s views to “reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here.”

But really, Grubhub doesn’t tolerate hate — not even its own hate.

It turns out that everyone misconstrued Maloney’s memo:

Some of the statements in my email (please see full text below) have been misconstrued. I want to clarify that I did not ask for anyone to resign if they voted for Trump. I would never make such a demand. To the contrary, the message of the email is that we do not tolerate discriminatory activity or hateful commentary in the workplace, and that we will stand up for our employees.

Looking back a couple of months, it’s a bit prophetic that Maloney reacted to GrubHub’s IMWITHHER vs. IMWITHHIM couple code poll by wondering who’d come out on top, now that there appears to be momentum gathering behind a boycott.

Maybe GrubHub is going to have to write off the deplorables who make up half the country and rely on its core customer base of intelligent, urban females to keep Grubhub in business.
