Hillary Clinton disavows Seddique Mateen's support; Cher suspects a Trump plot

Plenty were wondering just how Hillary Clinton would react to the news that Seddique Mateen, the father of the man responsible for the Pulse nightclub slaughter in Orlando, Fla., was seated prominently behind her at her rally in Kissimmee, Fla., Monday night.

It took a while, but CNN’s Jake Tapper reports that Clinton has disavowed Mateen’s support, which he demonstrated by endorsing her during a quick interview with a local TV station that spotted him in the seats. “Hillary Clinton is good for United States versus Donald Trump, who has no solutions,” he said.

So which of his views does she disagree with? That she’s good for the United States?

The Clinton campaign did comment Tuesday morning on Mateen’s presence at the Florida rally, saying only that Mateen hadn’t been invited as a guest, and the campaign was unaware of his attendance until after the event.

Cher seems to think that Donald Trump was somehow involved in getting Mateen into the rally; that is, if we’re reading Cher’s emoji-speak correctly and she’s using the toilet icon to represent Trump.

The Clinton camp didn’t even come up with that theory, saying only that the 3,000-person event was open to the public.

ABC News did its own digging Tuesday, reporting that Mateen received the exact same screening as everyone else at the event and was seated “well outside of the security buffer zone.”
