Plenty of people on social media complained about the moderators and candidates switching places during Wednesday night’s GOP debate in Boulder. Sen. Ted Cruz won a round of applause for calling out the moderators on their policy-free questions, while the audience loudly booed a question or two, particularly this question posed to Ben Carson:

CNBC moderators: Why can't you get it through your collective thick skulls that the debate process is NOT. ALL. ABOUT. YOU.

I'm not sure a single candidate at #CNBCGOPDebate had a bad night. @CNBC moderators, on the other hand…

Come on CNBC moderators, get your damn facts right. This is embarrassing.#trump

Even Piers Morgan was embarrassed for them.

We get it, @CNBC moderators, you oppose all the GOP candidates. So why are you moderating our primary debate? #GOPDebate
— jon gabriel (@exjon) October 29, 2015
So this is a debate between the CNBC moderators and the GOP candidates. Got it.

Looks like it's going to be @CNBC moderators versus #GOPDebate candidates tonight…
— Sophie Babcock (@sophresh4) October 29, 2015
Apparently CNBC moderators are also contestants in the debate.

Do you want to punch the CNBC moderators?
— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) October 29, 2015
The CNBC moderators are just jerks
— Reagan Bush (@2happy2) October 28, 2015
I would argue the DNC gave the CNBC moderators the questions to ask tonight, but even the DNC would've toned down the pretentiousness a bit.
— Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) October 29, 2015
CNBC moderators have accepted that they lost control of the debate
— Daniel Greenfield (@Sultanknish) October 29, 2015
Moderators lose control at third GOP debate https://t.co/igtBTWmN7W Wow. That was terrible.

Does anyone actually watch CNBC? If I were liberal I'd watch CNN. CNBC moderators are the worst I've ever seen.
— Dave Watts (@revdlwatts) October 29, 2015
CNBC moderators think viewers are here to see them. Like that embarrassment, Candy Crowley, they think we're interested in their opinions.

#BernieSanders is my candidate.
But the @CNBC moderators should be fired tonight.
Very bad.— Peter Lombard (@tutticontenti) October 29, 2015
The CNBC moderators lost tonight. Amen.
