TIME walks back claim that 15,000 attended Amber Rose SlutWalk; LA Times counts hundreds

As Twitchy reported, the inaugural Amber Rose SlutWalk was held in Los Angeles Saturday, hosted by the Clinton Family Foundation Amber Rose Foundation, a non-profit organization Rose, a hip hop model and actress, launched to support her core mission of “uplifting, empowering, and enhancing the platform of women across the globe.”

Rose boasts nearly 8 million followers on Instagram, but what about claims that her SlutWalk drew a crowd of 15,000? That number seems a bit high.

Breitbart.com writer Milo Yiannopoulos was there to cover the event (and do a bit of live trolling), and challenged that number, which was published in TIME magazine. The writer was Erica Williams Simon, described in her biography as deputy editor of Upworthy and “a strategist, cultural critic, speaker and media maker” whose work “focuses on communicating the personal values, ideas and habits that lead to radical social impact.”

It’s certainly worth noting that the Los Angeles Times, which dispatched a reporter to the event to conduct interviews with participants, estimated the attendance to be “several hundred” — and that TIME has edited its piece to claim “thousands of people.”

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported a specific figure for the number of participants in the SlutWalk. A specific count was not available.

… so we went with 15,000.
