It’s not surprising that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid would consider “the system” unfair — according to Roll Call’s most recent “Wealth of Congress” report, Reid is barely hanging on to his position among the top 100 richest members of Congress, holding down 94th place with a mere net worth of $2.8 million. Still, he manages to scrape by on a public servant’s salary.
Reid took to the Senate floor today, ostensibly to cut directly to the root of the problem that inspired the youth of Baltimore to riot, loot, commit arson, assault police officers, and so on.
We shouldn't let violence perpetrated by a few in the streets of a great American city become an excuse to ignore the underlying problem.

Millions of Americans feel powerless in the face of a system that is rigged against them. No one should feel like their life is not valued.

The hope I had to escape poverty as a little boy isn't shared by many today. When there is no hope, anger and despair move in. Let's fix it.

Let's not pretend the system is fair. Let's not pretend the path from poverty like the one I took is still open to anyone who works hard.

Your path involved monetizing a seat in the U.S. Senate. @SenatorReid

@SenatorReid Comrade Reid, are you suggesting that we cannot succeed individually and that we need the collective in order to succeed?
— Ranjoesta (@ranjoesta) April 28, 2015
@SenatorReid every policy you support is designed to keep people dependent on government and keep them from achieving their dreams…

@SenatorReid @Huey_P_Nuisance Senator, I dont see how @Democrats haven't played a role in our demise, our oppression. #BlackLivesMatter

@SenatorReid And let's not pretend that #Democrat policies don't ensure an impoverished class forced to take handouts from the government.

@SenatorReid Dems have been in control of Baltimore for 47 years. What could possibly be wrong?
