Jonathan Hoenig charges that American universities dominated by anti-American ideas

Is it fair for “Cashin’ In” panelist Jonathan Hoenig to claim today’s American universities are dominated by anti-American ideas? Well, we don’t have to travel back more than a week to find the University of California, Irvine struggling with the decision to display the American flag after student legislators passed a resolution to ban all flags from the building housing their office in order to make the campus a more “culturally inclusive space.”

As Todd Starnes reported, Matthew Guevara, the student who wrote the resolution, argued that “Flags not only serve as symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism, but also construct cultural mythologies and narratives that in turn charge nationalistic sentiments.”

Another student who assisted with the resolution wrote an opinion piece in the school newspaper arguing that the American flag could be “triggering to students who are undocumented and to whom the flag represents a constant struggle to gain American citizenship, being a triggering symbol of U.S. imperialism and neo-colonialism and also as potentially disrespectful to the increasing international student population.”

That sentiment didn’t fly with either university administrators or the student body at large, but who wants to bet that the resolution’s authors received an encouraging pat on the head and a soy cookie from the professor who taught them all about “neo-colonialism” and “cultural narratives”?

Even worse; there’s no need to attend college to begin indoctrination.
