Dem campaign flier prompts reminder: KKK was militant wing of Democratic Party

Those heading to the polls in Wisconsin tomorrow will still have the option of writing in State Rep. Brett Hulsey for governor. Hulsey has registered as a write-in independent candidate, but you might remember this spring, when then-Democrat gubernatorial candidate Hulsey announced his plan to hand out hand-made Klan hoods at the state’s Republican convention.

The state’s Democrat Party wanted nothing to do with the stunt, understandably. Dems are usually self-aware enough to know better than to remind Americans of the true history of the Ku Klux Klan. Usually — don’t forget Democrat Alan Grayson’s fundraising email with a flaming cross forming the “T” in Tea Party.

As National Review’s Jonah Goldberg points out, the education continues today.

The Washington Times reports:

Campaign materials aimed at getting out the black vote are featuring references to lynchings, Jim Crow-era signs, racial unrest — and, as of last weekend, the Ku Klux Klan.

In Alabama, fliers distributed in largely black communities warn voters to cast ballots or else “land may be given to extremist groups to honor klansmen.” A copy of the flier was obtained by The Washington Times.
