As we reported earlier, The Federalist published a handy list of “61 hacks” to never trust again after the release of the Durham Report. Most of those hacks work in the mainstream media, and Never Trumpers like Bill Kristol, Tom Nichols, and Rick Wilson all made the list. The folks at The Dispatch are in the clear, although Jonah Goldberg started his day knowing he’d be reminded by “tiresome pests” of the time in 2017 he said he’d trust James Comey over Donald Trump 10 times out of 10.
A whole bunch of tiresome pests are going nuts over a clip of me in — 2017! — saying I'll take Comey's word over Trump's 10 time out of 10. I agree that Comey looks much worse now then back then. But I think I was justified in saying it then, given what was known, and given…

A whole bunch of tiresome pests are going nuts over a clip of me in — 2017! — saying I’ll take Comey’s word over Trump’s 10 time out of 10. I agree that Comey looks much worse now then back then. But I think I was justified in saying it then, given what was known, and given that the issue was Trump’s credibility versus Comey’s.
And, frankly, Trump is still more dishonest than Comey — even if you consider Comey a deeply dishonest person, which I pretty much do.
I’m just putting this here because I think all of the dunking is stupid, in bad faith, not worth individual responses — and works on the mulish assumption that if you can prove Comey was a bad guy that makes Trump a good guy. He’s not. There is still no definition of good character he can clear the hurdle on.
Trump invited virtually all of his legal, political and financial problems on himself, including to a large part the FBI collusion probe — which, by the way, resulted in a lot more criminal convictions than Durham’s probe did.
Donald Trump virtually invited the Russian collusion probe by the FBI? How so?
Your own mother knew the whole thing was a hoax very early on, @JonahDispatch. What was your excuse? pic.twitter.com/yiHJjsMGjq

Shut up loser
— Storm Paglia 🇺🇸 (@storm_paglia) May 16, 2023
Comey is absolutely a bigger liar than Trump. It's a classic example of the Chris Rock principle. Trump tells the most lies. Comey tells the biggest lies. "It's Putin’s baby!"
— Ben Domenech (@bdomenech) May 16, 2023
Can you cite a time since 2017 and before yesterday when you showed any doubt in the competence and impartiality of the FBI as it related to its investigations of Trump?
— Fusilli Spock (@awstar11) May 16, 2023
He can't. Even with all the cards of the table he can't admit that his trust in Comey was misplaced.
— Spooky Joe (@jmotivator) May 16, 2023
Incredible how all the hits that land on these people are also Bad Faith™
What a record!
— Caesar Pounce (@caesar_pounce) May 16, 2023
This is a lot of words to say “I was totally wrong and can’t admit it.”
— Faye Hausendorff (@FayeH321) May 16, 2023
The arrogance. No humility whatsoever. That’s sad
— Darvio Morrow (@DTheKingpin) May 16, 2023
One is a politician, one is in law enforcement.
Both are not good, one is astronomically worse. Just own the dunks Jonah, none of us are perfect.
— Larry LaBate (@xmethuselahx) May 16, 2023
Well this will be the most loser tweet of 2023 if it isn't already…
— GusQuixote (@GusQuixote) May 16, 2023
You bolstered Comey’s reputation at the time for personal & selfish reasons. People aren’t dunking on you for thinking Trump is a dishonest liar. They’re dunking on you for being a fool who fell for a scam because it was just easier to go along with the cool kids than seek truth.
— EducatëdHillbilly™ (@RobProvince) May 16, 2023
Wait you believed Comey's story? Like at face value?
— Physics Geek (@physicsgeek) May 16, 2023
This schmuck can't just admit that people in our government did something worse than Watergate, and basically got away with it, then just admit he was wrong and move on.
How could anyone ever respect you, or even listen to any of your commentary again 🤔🤨🙄
— NYINDEPENDENT🇺🇸 (@JONEEFRY) May 16, 2023
You know I am largely on your side on this. And I think your statement was defensible at the time.
But in hindsight…I think Comey is someone nobody should trust. That doesn't mean Trump is more trustworthy (he isn't), but those actors should be treated as the liars they are.

Funny how these Never Trump hacks find a way to justify their complete lack of principles. Govt corruption is okay as long as it’s against Trump
“He brought it on himself”, referring to the FBI illegally spying on a presidential campaign. Pathetic #smh
— Obi_1_D_AllKnowing (@obiopiah) May 16, 2023
“I was wrong” is the only tweet you need to post.
— Peekaso (@peekaso) May 16, 2023
Truth. Comey always was a slimeball. Hating Trump doesn’t change that fact.
