On March 27, Audrey Hale shot and killed six people at Covenant School, three of them only nine years old. It didn’t take long for the media to lay the blame at the feet of Tennessee Republicans, who’d passed “anti-transgender” legislation. Police didn’t immediately give a motive for the shooting, but they did say that Hale had left behind a manifesto. You’d think reading the manifesto would give a pretty clear idea of Hale’s motive, but we never got to see it.
WZTV is reporting Thursday that the police are reviewing Hale’s manifesto for public release. We’ll believe it when we see it.
🚨 BREAKING: The Nashville Mass Shooter's Manifesto is being reviewed by police for public releasehttps://t.co/tGJ5FBWA9P

WZTV reports:
Despite the support by some for releasing the materials, others believe they should not be released unless the information is helpful.
Metro Nashville Councilwoman Courtney Johnston previously spoke with WZTV, stating that while she is not involved in the investigation, law enforcement personnel she has spoken with say the manifesto “keeps them up at night” and the Covenant shooting was “a small sliver” of what Hale wanted to do.
Just release it. Put it online today.

Sure it is.
We'll see soon enough.— Paul Van Huffel (@ZoobieHuff) April 27, 2023
Manifesto must be getting altered in some way. Let the public see it without any restrictions. It's called transparency.

Why review it and edit it?

Probably be redacted as hell

What exactly do they need to "review"?
— Crombopolis_Michael (@Woodcutcc) April 27, 2023
What have they been doing with it up until now. Rewriting it?

It's crazy that we know the contents of the Louisville shooters manifesto but not Nashville 🤔
— Dad Who Dads (@dadwhodads) April 27, 2023
What have they been doing with it all this time??!
— Bonnygale (@bonnygale) April 27, 2023
Release in full.
— Ryan Conover (@RyanConover13) April 27, 2023
Over a month later? What have police been reviewing it for prior to now?
— Andrew Brandt (@DrewDBrandt) April 27, 2023
We’re seriously supposed to trust the police on this one. “It takes time” to “review” it. Well, then crowdsource it — put it online, unredacted, and let the public help out with the review.
If they were going to release it they would have by now.
