We’d almost say we can’t believe this is an actual NBC News story, but then we’re reminded of NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell saying she was “imprecise” when she said Gov. Ron DeSantis didn’t want slavery taught in schools. Much as we wondered about in our post on CNN’s “analysis” of nine wealthy, elite justices deciding whether President Biden can cancel student debt, which editor decided to assign this to a reporter? The agenda is obvious and the headline is ridiculous.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee appears to have dressed in drag — an art form he wants to restrict. https://t.co/55SMYENxZZ

What a hypocrite! The piece was written by Matt Lavietes, a reporter for NBC Out, whose recent works include “Pride flag set on fire outside NYC restaurant,” “A lesbian lost her son to his sperm donor. Should other gay parents be concerned?” and “Kentucky bill would ban drag shows within 1,000 feet of schools, parks and homes.” Lavietes writes:
Answering reporters’ questions Monday, Lee, a Republican, said he would sign the drag bill in addition to a separate piece of legislation that would prohibit gender-affirming care for the state’s minors. He was then asked whether he remembers “dressing in drag in 1977” and appeared to have been shown a copy of the image. He neither confirmed nor denied whether it was him in the image.
“What a ridiculous, ridiculous question that is,” Lee responded in an exchange that was recorded and shared on Twitter by The Tennessee Holler, a local news site. “Conflating something like that to sexualized entertainment in front of children, which is a very serious subject.”
…
The school tradition Byers referred to is most likely a powderpuff football game, in which boys dress as girls and vice versa during homecoming week. Byers did not respond to a follow-up question asking for clarification.

Check out this shocking 1977 yearbook photo:
And now he wants to criminalize drag performances in front of children.
This headline is total bullshit. Lee dressed up in a high school yearbook photo in 1977. The legislation targets drag shows that have CHILDREN IN THE AUDIENCE. https://t.co/8738fPZbZk

"prurient interest" was always going to go over the heads of people that can't define what a woman is.

Is this satire?

They are grasping as straws. The left has no real ammunition. Bunch of racist, pitiful, sad people.

Absolutely. No one is outlawing drag, or drag shows. Just not for children. These people are really amazing.

Agenda headline. Big surprise.

But children could be exposed to that yearbook!
This reminds us of the time Sheriff Grady Judd broke out photos to demonstrate to the press what a protest looked like vs. what a riot looked like — since “some people are slow learners.” Just scan @LibsOfTikTok for video from “all-ages” drag shows if you can’t tell the difference between that and this.
