The potted plant isn’t scheduled to speak for another ten minutes, but excerpts from his prime-time speech have already been sent out to the press, and it looks like he’s going to kick things off by warning us about the threats to our democracy. Those threats are “MAGA forces” which, according to Karine Jean-Pierre, don’t agree with the majority. These MAGA forces want to place restrictions on abortion. They’re also trying to ban contraception and make same-sex marriages illegal.
EXCERPTS of @POTUS Biden’s speech on fate of democracy, as released by the WH: “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards. Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.” pic.twitter.com/0qUh8kZz1J

MAGA “forces”.
That was chosen very deliberately. https://t.co/dGUXh0zWIG

Seriously dude, grow some balls and name names. Who are these MAGA forces so we can string them up?
“Battle” for the soul of the nation against MAGA ”forces”.
Yeah it’s not hard to see what’s going on here. But remember, we’re the extremists.

It’s not unusual for unpopular Presidents to start wars to get their approval up.
They usually don’t start them in their own country, though.

What? No longer Ultra-MAGA?
Lame.

Using the label “forces” to describe those whose rights you have sworn an oath to uphold is the language of fascism. The political enemies you target are fellow citizens. They are Americans. If you offer no respect to those you are charged to lead, do not expect any in return.

Embarrassing that he is the President.
— PJ (@pj_deplorable) September 1, 2022
This sounds like he’s declaring war on half the country. Whatever happened to all his talk about unity?
— Candy Lamb (@candylamb47) September 1, 2022
"Forces." 🤣😅🤡
This is destined to go down as the most idiotic speech in history.— President Doctor (@LDreeniatnuom) September 1, 2022
So much unifying
— ██████ ██████ (@paullyswalnuts) September 1, 2022
Incredible watching one media outlet after another regurgitate these Biden-supplied talking points without any comment on the divisiveness, particularly coming from someone who ran and got elected on the promise of unity, healing, and civility.

MAGA forces. I need a new hat
— Reaganette (@Ezinger44) September 1, 2022
I have no interest in another divisive attack mode speech from #Biden
— Lauren Elizabeth (@Coast__Coast) September 1, 2022
Remind yourself that White House officials insisted repeatedly today this isn’t a political speech. Then read these excerpts. https://t.co/ce0lFwJUhN
— Ed O'Keefe (@edokeefe) September 1, 2022
Yes, please do read the excerpts.
They defend Freedom. Equality. Democracy.
They are as "political" as Ben Franklin, saying in 1787, that the Framers had given us "a Republic, if you can keep it." https://t.co/NO445eizZC
— Ronald Klain (@WHCOS) September 1, 2022
Hey, President Ron Klain likes the speech. We’re already looking forward to him retweeting Jennifer Rubin’s column praising Biden’s speech as the most important ever delivered.
