The Associated Press chimed in Wednesday to spread word of a doctored image that’s been making the rounds. There are a lot of doctored images making the rounds every day, but this one appeared to show an anti-fascist activist beating a police officer.
AP FACT CHECK: Photo that appears to show an anti-fascist activist beating a police officer is a doctored image. https://t.co/plWIWBOjZ6

The AP helpfully explained that the antifa “is comprised of far-left-leaning militant groups that resist neo-Nazis and white supremacists.” Unfortunately for some of those who’ve been brutalized by members of the antifa, the movement’s definition of neo-Nazis is awfully broad, often including Trump supporters in general.
CNN’s Jake Tapper on Wednesday also made mention of a couple of journalists who were attacked by counter-protesters at last weekend’s “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Va.
At least two journalists in Charlottesville were assaulted by people protesting the Klan/Nazi/alt-right rally. Taylor is one: https://t.co/haVOw89uTN

8/ these are unprovoked assaults on journalists doing their jobs — by those marching *against* the hateful racists.
Disgusting.

It’s not entirely clear why the AP was anxious to clear up a Photoshop job that made the antifa look bad, but as Twitchy reported, the effort is in full swing to rehabilitate the image of the anti-fascists, with some comparing them to World War II veterans.

Could Antifada violently attacking journalists jeopardize their favorable coverage? https://t.co/se8l1GI7Mq

Let’s hope so.
We are now somehow in the position where if you don't support these people you are a Nazi. What a time to be alive. pic.twitter.com/NHZR8lqC0k
