The Resurgent founder Erick Erickson went on a Twitter rant about how liberals and conservatives respond to mass shootings. For the most part, Erickson’s observations are fairly true: conservatives cling to their guns, their faith and their God. Liberals, on the other hand, cling to government and government policy to solve all of their problems.

2. When it is a white guy, the left starts talking gun control and the right insists it is too soon.

3. I don’t care. We are not going to stop talking politics and people are going to politicize these things.

4. What I do notice is that we all tend to turn to the thing we believe in the most in times of tragedy.

5. Conservatives tend to first go to God and liberals tend to first go to government.

6. But what is frustrating about the gun issue is that so many people opposed to gun rights have taken no time to understand them.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) October 3, 2017
7. People opposed to gun laws just make crap up, e.g. it is easier to buy a gun than vote. No it isn’t.

12. Lastly, given the utter bizarreness of this particular shooting and how much doesn’t fit…
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) October 3, 2017
13. This one might actually be a good one to wait before talking policy and politics. Lots of unknowns outstanding.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) October 3, 2017
One of Erickson’s followers did, however, have issues with his analysis.
No, what is necessary is an honest reading of the 2nd Amendment which itself refers to well regulated. Was intended to provide for militias.

But Erickson’s response was on point. And completely undebatable.

Liberals, if you’re going to try to act like the Second Amendment doesn’t exist, do us all a favor and go back to high school history class, will ya?
