Men Make the Best Actresses, Just Ask the Academy Awards

Invision for the Television Academy/AP Images

Yesterday, the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards were announced. I guess Stephen King isn't getting his way; Hollywood's biggest night isn't going to be canceled, despite the Los Angeles wildfires.

There was a time I lived for the Oscars. I love movies and have seen far too many to list. But the Hollywood of yesteryear -- even the Hollywood of my childhood -- doesn't exist anymore. Rather than given awards to the best actor/actress or film, the Academy adopted rules that films must follow if they wish to qualify for Best Picture. To get the nomination, a film must meet at least two of four of the following requirements:

  • On-screen representation
At least one lead or significant supporting actor must be from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group
  • Acting ensemble
At least 30% of the actors in minor roles must be from at least two underrepresented groups
  • Creative leadership
At least two creative leaders or department heads must be from an underrepresented group
  • Storyline
The storyline must center on an underrepresented group

So much for creativity, originality, and acting.

But no one in Hollywood spoke out against this, because -- with some notable exceptions -- they are dyed-in-the-wool Leftists.

And now the DEI policies are have lead to the inevitable: a man has been nominated for Best Actress.

The other nominees include Cynthia Erivo, 'Wicked'; Mikey Madison, 'Anora'; Demi Moore, 'The Substance' and Fernanda Torres, 'I’m Still Here.'

Gascón will win and we all know why. In fact, 'Emilia Pérez' will probably sweep everything it's nominated for.

Exactly. Imagine the acceptance speech. Much like the Episcopalian bishop who chided Trump to 'show kindness' to the LGBTQ community, Gascón will get on stage, clutching his Oscar, and get his 'YAAAAS QUEEN!' moment.

The viral videos edit themselves.

The Academy Award has two separate acting categories so women receive the same attention and accolades as men. Or did, until this year, when they decided a man who says he's a woman is really a woman.

I want to watch the other nominees smile and clap as a man takes the top acting prize from them. To give glowing interviews about how this is so brave and inclusive, etc. etc. (because daring to call it the injustice it is would make them persona non grata at the after parties).

Meanwhile, in the real world, most Americans will look at this and find it, as I do, appalling. But politics is downstream of culture and this rot has finally made its way back up to the source.

It's very easy for celebrities to tell us to vote for Kamala Harris, and to be tolerant of men in our sports, our bathrooms, our locker rooms while they remain isolated from it. It's not their daughters getting injured on the playing field. It's not their daughters being sexually abused in locker rooms. It's not their daughters losing competition spots to boys.

They can parade their 'trans kids' in front of the paparazzi and virtue signal all they want, but these policies never really impact THEM.

Until now.

And I don't care what anyone says: behind those pasted-on smiles, at least one of those actresses is going to be livid she lost her award to a man.
