We feel like once upon a time, you could count on science to mean something. Social justice garbage permeated other aspects of life and academia, but science was science, based on facts and data as opposed to emotion.
But that time seems to have come to a sad and disturbing end. Now, not even the science is sacred anymore. Wokeness has penetrated the blood-brain barrier, so to speak, and that’s how we end up with stories like this one from a young woman who claims that her professor shot down her final project because the proposal used the nontroversial language “biological women.”

According to the student, she’s currently in academic limbo with regard to the status of her project and her grade because the professor has been nonresponsive. Fortunately, that hasn’t stopped her from getting all of her ducks in a row and advocating for herself with the college:

It’s insane that any student’s academic record would be at risk over something like referring to biological women as biological women, particularly because “biological women” is an essential term to use when discussing transgender women.
All women are biological. She probably meant ‘cis’ women. Students should be encouraged to use language accurately.

The fact that this woman would have to refer to women as “biological women” at all is crazy. We didn’t used to have to make any kind of distinction; women were women, and that was that. And then at some point in the past few years, using a term like “women” became not just incorrect, but actively harmful and dangerous.

It really is. We’ve heard way too many stories like this, where someone winds up in the hot seat for stating a basic scientific fact and is threatened with academic repercussions. Or career repercussions. Or actual violence.
This has to stop, but it can’t stop without people, especially young people, out there who are willing to fight back with truth. Look at what Riley Gaines has accomplished. Perhaps Gaines has some advice for this young woman.
