When my husband and I upgraded our Verizon plan back in January, we got six months of Disney+ along with it. We’d never planned to subscribe to it, because (A) it’s just another expense, and (B) as a general rule, Disney really pisses me off (deliberately ignoring the Uyghur genocide is kind of a problem for me, as it is for a lot of people). But now that we had it just for a little bit, I could finally watch “Get Back,” which I’d been wanting to see since forever (I was not disappointed, just FYI) and maybe there’d be some good stuff for the kids.
And that’s when we stumbled upon “Bluey.” I’d seen the name when we’d scroll past it while looking for stuff to watch on TV, but we’d never stopped and watched it because it was on The Disney Channel, which, quite frankly, just broadcasts a lot of hot garbage. But my husband turned it on for the kids one day, and that was it. We were in love and never looked back. If you haven’t seen it yet, stop what you’re doing right now and watch this:
You don’t even have to have kids to watch it and fall in love with it. I’m genuinely going to miss it when we lose Disney+, so I’ve already set up the DVR to record it, as much for me as for my kids. It’s just so wholesome and sweet and clever and funny, and I will gladly be a Bluey evangelist (Bluevangelist?).
Which is why I’m so disappointed and annoyed to find out that the Woke Mob is coming for “Bluey” now:

[Aussie Girl Margie, a TikTok user who has built a following analyzing “Bluey”] added: “The fact they added in the scales and showed both parents being sad and disappointed after seeing the number on the scales, is pretty problematic.”
Pediatric dietitian Dr. Kyla Ringrose wrote: “Watching Bandit and Chilli weigh themselves and openly hate on their bodies in front of the kids was really uncomfortable.”
…
The ABC said: “The recent episode of Bluey, Exercise, has been republished by the ABC following a decision by the makers of the program. The new version provides families with the opportunity to manage important conversations in their own way.”
You know what the ABC should have said to Aussie Girl Margie and Kyla Ringrose? “Get bent.” That’s it. That’s the response.
How absolutely ridiculous.

They can’t let us have anything good, can they?
I told you they’d come for Bluey. It’s too pure for this world. https://t.co/lMRm8exiUU

Cancel culture has jumped the fat, overweight shark.

Well as a father I can say this is spot on, me and the scales don’t agree.
What a stupid decision

As Deadline points out, this actually wouldn’t be the first time that “Bluey” has been re-edited in order to comply with more woke sensibilities:
It is not the first time that the cartoon about a loveable family of dogs has been shrouded in controversy. In 2020, Ludo Studio producers cut the term “ooga booga” from two Bluey episodes, Teasing and Flat Pack, after a viewer complained it has “racial connotations and a problematic history for Indigenous Australians.
For eff’s sake. It’s said that nothing in this world is sacred, but an exception must be made for “Bluey.”

I’m personally not a take-to-the-streets kind of gal, but I’ll go to the mat for “Bluey,” I swear to dog.
