Yesterday, the House passed a bill that would bar trans women from participating in women’s sports. No thanks to House Democrats, of course. The bill will head to the Democratic-controlled Senate, where it will likely — and very, very wrongly — wither on the vine.
Nevertheless, there’s still plenty of outrage from radical trans activists that such a bill was even up for debate in the first place. And the ACLU is among the angriest entities out there.
The ACLU, who actually did kinda care about civil liberties at one point, is furious that Republicans would be considering biological female athletes’ desire to compete against other biological female athletes in women’s sports and their right to not have to share a locker room with biological men:
BREAKING: The U.S. House of Representatives just voted 219-203 to ban trans girls from being able to participate in sports.
The bill now heads to the Senate.

School athletics are a critical opportunity for every student — including transgender girls.
Denying them the chance to play with their peers is unfair and unconstitutional.
Take action and tell Congress to stop legislating hate.https://t.co/VPi44hlFYH

“Legislating hate.” Preserving the integrity of women’s sports and protecting women and girls from bodily harm and sexual impropriety is “legislating hate.” OK, ACLU.
First of all:
I thought @RepJeffries said this wasn't happening. https://t.co/rdePuDuguf

Indeed. Just yesterday, while debating the bill on the House floor, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said that Republicans making a fuss over trans women in women’s sports are harping on “an issue that doesn’t really exist.”
And second of all, the ACLU is straight-up lying about the nature of the bill. It doesn’t ban trans girls from being able to participate in sports. It doesn’t deny trans girls the chance to play with their peers. Trans girls’ peers are boys. And were the bill to become law, it wouldn’t prohibit trans girls from competing on boys’ teams, or even from competing against other trans girls on trans girls’ teams. If the ACLU’s cause is so just and noble, then why can’t they be honest about it?
I look forward to the community notes on this brazen lie.

As do I. In the meantime, this is a good start:
The ACLU beclowns itself yet again. The bill does not ban anyone from participating in sports. Trans-identified males are welcome to compete against other males. https://t.co/LEv6ZUPUDX

The bill doesn't prevent trans people from playing sports..

Not true. It doesn’t ban them from sports.

This is a lie.
Trans girls can compete in boys sports. https://t.co/TG25O2kMen— Dean Cain (@RealDeanCain) April 21, 2023
You lie. Kids can play on the team of their sex.
— Araquel #SexMatters (@AraquelBloss) April 20, 2023
False. They can participate in sports, just against kids of the same sex. https://t.co/vOdAkGgJSM

You know, just like everybody else. Cis women compete in women’s sports based on their sex, their biology. Cis men compete in men’s sports based on their sex, their biology. If sex segregation in sports is based on sex and biology for cis people, the same should apply for trans people. Ergo, trans women should have the opportunity to compete against cis men. Or against other trans women. But not against cis women.
This really isn’t very difficult. And the radical trans activists know it. They’re just hoping we’re too stupid to actually think about what they’re saying and realize how little sense their argument makes.
It's fascinating that their foundational argument, the support for absolutely everything else, is males have no biological physical advantages over females.
Yet the experience of sex-segregated sports is so desperately necessary for trans students it's a Constitutional issue. https://t.co/MMPWhOy5cJ
