Back when Twitter was banning conservative accounts for far lesser offenses (which were quite often not really even offenses at all), Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei remained untouched. This was despite tweeting threats of violence, antisemitic filth, and, yes, even COVID misinformation.
But now that Elon Musk is in charge, at least for the time being, Twitter’s Terms of Service will at least in theory be enforced across the board equally. Maybe that’s why Khamenei is trying out a newer, gentler Twitter strategy.

A lot of the gender pay gap stuff is BS, at least in this country. But even so, to see Khamenei invoking it in an attempt to shame the West for treating women unfairly is just … well, it’s surreal is what it is.
