'How did that happen?' Self-described 'old-fashioned liberal lefty' Ricky Gervais mystified by this

Actor-comedian Ricky Gervais is stumped about something, guys:

I'm an old fashioned liberal lefty, champagne socialist type of guy. A pro-equality, opportunity-for-all, welfare state snowflake. But, if I ever defend freedom of speech on here, I'm suddenly an alt right nazi. How did that happen? pic.twitter.com/9pYrTJlQHK

That really is a puzzler … can anyone help him out?

Pull up a chair Rick and let me lay it out for you: They don't believe in free speech. https://t.co/ITnUzxrfG3

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one.

You can have whatever opinion you want, as long as it’s the same opinion of the many

@rickygervais Caught up in the double standard. Free speech is OK, just so long as it agrees with what they are saying.

The left no longer believe in *free speech*, they believe in *their speech*
