We know Maggie Haberman works for the New York Times, but come on now. What would possess her to ask this question?
Seriously asking – what possible context is there that makes Trump's "they're animals" comment from yesterday more nuanced?

Maggie. Maggie.
RIP your mentions

She kinda deserves it, to be honest.

You are about to get scores of “possible contexts” that you will instantly reject.

Are you serious right now

Are you serious about asking a serious question? Did you not listen to the whole thing in context and not figure it out?

He was referring specifically to members of MS-13, a criminal gang know for its ISIS-like viciousness. You know this!

You seriously need a dose of reality. You're a reporter. You have access to file photos. Please look up the "work" of this gang & tell me they are not heinous animals.
— Muggsy1943 (@Muggsy1943) May 17, 2018
Stop, don’t be part of the problem. You know it referenced MA-13. Not nuanced at all.
— Jim T (@TrickyJRT) May 17, 2018
When he's talking about gang members who use machetes to murder and dismember their victims, not to mention committing brutal beatings and rapes. Is "animal" too strong a term for that? As a liberal, I would say it is too kind.

I am comfortable taking Trump to task on a variety of topics but he was inartfully–as usual–talking about them. MS-13 gang members do some remarkably despicable, heinous acts and deserve to be put away for life. Even better would be to make sure they never arrive.

he was talking about a violent gang. not all immigrants. not even all illegal immigrants. How is that not relevant?

Geez Louise, Maggie. Do better.
Here you go https://t.co/Aw58aWXzYX
