CNBC reports:

Telecommunications giant AT&T said Tuesday night that it had paid President Donald Trump‘s lawyer Michael Cohen for “insights” about the Trump administration.

AT&T’s admission came after a lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels claimed the company, drug giant Novartis and a Russian oligarch had all made payments to Cohen’s firm.

Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said AT&T had made four separate payments to Cohen’s company totaling $200,000 in late 2017 and into early 2018.

This time, AT&T has confirmed the claims:

We might be looking at an honest-to-goodness mess here.

But is it?

Last week, Michael Avenatti not only “confirmed” that Michael Cohen had been wiretapped, but also that some of his text messages had been intercepted. The first claim proved to be false (at least as far as we know), and Avenatti never backed up the second. So at the very least, it’s probably worth taking his allegations today with a grain of salt.

Still, it’s not looking too good for Cohen right now.
